Albany and AHS Icon
On the
death of Morgan Murphy, Marion Hay (’56), a member of the
Radium Springs Casino Preservation Group remarked, “He was an
extraordinary person and a true leader and really loved his city and
county. I only wished that he had been an elected leader in Albany at
the time the Radium Casino was destroyed. If so I believe that that the
Casino would still be standing.” Morgan worked tirelessly for many
years with his friend Lamar Clifton (’46) to save the Casino.
Concerning his 1947’s 60th Class Reunion, I received this
email message from Morgan on July 16th (just 4 days before
his death), “CLIFTON AND I STILL HAVE A FEW RADIUM BOOKS FOR SALE!!!!!
MORGAN”.
It was
Radium all the way for Morgan … thanks to him and Lamar for carrying the
torch and for the wonderful memories!!!
